It was only a few weeks into our marraige when Tyler and I were talking one night. We were discussing the options we had in life and how we were going to get through school and buy a house and have kids. We have always had big plans to keep progressing in life. It came as a shock to me when Tyler made the comment,"I could join the military." It surprised me to hear my husband say this. But I kind of laughed about it and shrugged off the option. A few months later Tyler and I were talking about school and our future plans again. The subject of the military and the great benefits that come with it came up into conversation again. This time it lingered in my mind for a few more days. I stressed about the idea and talked to Tyler about it daily. Then of course I ignored the thought for a while. However, the idea of Tyler wanting to join the military came and went for a few months.
It was at this point that I learned that Tyler had almost joined the military in high school just before we started dating. It wasn't until earlier this year in January when the thought of it became real. Tyler started to acutally look into the Military.
We couldn't have made the decision without lots of prayers together and plenty of personal prayers. We visited the temple often together and came to the conclusion that this was the right decision. I have a true testimony of prayer and I have seen answers in my life. It is crazy to me that, with the lords spirit, something so crazy can feel so right in our life.
I am so proud of Tyler. This is a huge commitment in his and our lives. He has worked so hard to make this opportunity available to him. He is my hero, and best example of how to live life. Thank you honey, for being so strong and brave through this. You have smiled at me through all the stress, which helps me to know that everything will be okay. I love you Tyler! I can't wait to start this new adventure with you.

Ah, so it's official?! So what happens next? When does he leave?
ReplyDeleteOfficially official! He doesn't know when he leaves, probably around 3-6 months until he will go to basic training.
